With the recent trip down to Singapore for a design conference, I’m glad to have Eugene and Vince contributed some of the interesting picture they spotted on the way back to their hotel.
The first one is from one of the MRT station, which a campaign promoting the company stationery’s variety, vibrance of the colour. Pretty interesting to see they setup a walkthrough gallery of works from children that you can see works from the participant.

Another one come from neighbouring hotel that they stayed. Which it looks pretty interesting how creatively both of the cyber cafe attracts customer.

How are you there creative souls! Hope you had a great rest and break from the Christmas holidays, and there’s another one yet to come.
And a bit of off-topic from design/creative news but to inform you on the recent massive connection slowdown on our country. Actually it’s not only affecting us locally, but throughout the entire Asia, due to a massive earthquake at Taiwan, measured at 7.1 Richter scale. More news at here, here and here. Is it just another natural disaster or a warning is coming? What do you think? There’s even an ongoing discussion on possibility that the problem is tough to fix.

A quick snippet of how stop motion has no boundaries from How Advertising Spoiled Me. A very kewl creative advertising site to check on regularly.

Chill out with some songs from The Designer Mixtape. I’m still in awed by PingMag’s article on Vertical Garden: The art of organic architecture. (Hey, they even mentioned that there will be one skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur will be Greeni-fied. Wonder which one would it be)

footprints
Was lurking around for interactive projects on the web and came across this awesome one that won Gold at MobileAsia this year. The project itself is an interactive mobile project initiated by Mark Argo and Ann Poochareon. How amazingly simple idea can spark such a great outcome.
“Footprints” is a work that celebrates mobility and diversity of the connected community through digital technologies. Feet are a symbol of being mobile. A self point-of-view portrait of one’s own feet indicates authorship and the ability to document one self at any time, any place — an ability afforded by the camera phone. Shoes, as fashion, are an indication of class, culture, and generations. The participatory aspect of the installation reveals a portrait of a community, visually representing the connection amongst ourselves made possible by the digital devices.

I’m sure that there is some of us fond of beautiful craft and carvings, but have you ever wonder, how artists would take it so far to carve…crayons?

Peter Goldlust’s Carved Crayons
Some very interesting portfolio you can find at his site there, that includes really beautiful wall drawings for installation.

Diem Chau Storytelling
Another worthy one to look into crayon carvings, simply stunning.
An YouTube alternative?

Contact : +6012 354 2681 / rantai.art@gmail.com / http://rantai-art.blogspot.com / http://www.myspace.com/rantai
RANTAi can be defined as a collaboration between young designers from all kinds of art genre. RANTAi symbolises that although there are a lot of art mediums and different ideas, they still connect with each other under one name, which is art. It also proves that art will always be in us whether we realised it or not. Therefore, RANTAi would want to give an opportunity for these fresh talents to show what they are capable of and to make them believe that they are all in one link, RANTAi.
