Whitespace
This morning I was suprised that there is new article from ALA (A List Apart). And from this article, I fell in love with them even more, covering the basics in design, whitespace. Note the difference between the usual dilemma you have with China-men bosses vs. design that talks to people. I like this quote personally. “Less whitespace = cheap; more whitespace = luxury”. It just hits right at the sweet spot on the people that doesn’t listen to it.

SNAP
As you can see, I’ve implemented the SNAP Preview feature. It’s really neat and one of the reason why I chose to implement it, is due to it’s responsiveness. I was shocked to know it takes them really just few second to update a new thumbnail!
Look at the examples below, you can enlarge the screenshot (with clock at sides) to look for yourself on how fast it is!
This is what happen when they does not have the database of the preview in their server.

This is what happened after a…while.
And if you can also take a look at these amazing pictures of 2006.

Tourism Malaysia
If anyone of you still have not heard of it, 2007 is the year of Visit Malaysia. And I’m glad they have finally took up the courage to put some design touch into the website, way better than what it used to be. I’m curious which agency are responsible for this as the TV commercial looks quite good.

Typography P*rn

Tequila
I recently came across this site which is actually TBWA \ Chiat \ Day‘s interactive arm. Interesting enough is what they intend to showcase themselves through a series of transitions that relate back to the big idea that revolves around time & space. Detailed animation even. Take note on the transitions, remind me bit on PSYOP.
Went through an exclusive interview with Brand-Nu. Really spankin’ stuff.

And if you’re interested in a more eye opener advertising ideas, head to TWENTYFOUR. I’m totally in love with the one for Body Coach. You can always see there are ideas that’s extremely kinky yet effective. Neat.

Heath Nash
An incredible designer I would say, that makes good use of recycle-able items. Who would ever thought a waste could be turned into a designer products that look as good as IKEA’s? My god.

I know it’s not much of a local news, but somewhat an international one. For the seventh time, since 2001, the seventh annual weblog awards is here. You vote for the weblog (blog) that deserves to be called ‘worthy’.
And have you guys bought the ticket to Massive Territory this Saturday? Joshua Davis is coming to town! W+K Tokyo Lab also joining the bandwagon! Would want to congratulate the dudes over the feature at Apple Pro Profiles recently. What are you waiting for? See you there!

Box Doodle
Just a while ago I received a mail from David, owner of the site himself saying :
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
the box doodle project
http://www.boxdoodle.com
the rules are quite simple:
rearrange a box to make any kind of figure or object.
make the most of least.
the box doodle project
helps to sharpen the powers
of observation through
the discovery of resemblances
between geometric and
natural forms.
this observation is essential
in the study of visual symbols.
enjoy your observation!
