Following the previous thread on DE on The Coca-Cola Collector’s Fair. Tuckloong, being an avid fan of the brand, we had him to attend the event and to share the joy and fun with you that was held on 25th of March 2007, at 10.30 AM. More than 100 person was at the event itself sharing experience and passion towards the brand, Coca-Cola, or better known as Coke. Read on for a full coverage of the event.

This is Kenny, which is known for his obsession on Coca-Cola products and merchandises. The 12 cans visible on the picture above are the Malaysia’s 1992 limited edition which not a lot of people doesn’t know of its existant which makes this set is very valuable piece.

Another happy collector of Coke.

Such event itself allows us to observe people from different places gather under one same interest and understanding.

Some collection are even passed down through generations.

Mr. Mohd. Kadri is an official Communication Director which officiates this ceremony that also helps in promoting the brand in our country.

On that day itself, he announced that there will be different designs of Coca-Cola in the future, just like what we see from different countries which has a myriad of vibrant design. He even explained the reason behind of maintaining the same designs of the can/bottle in our country is to avoid unnecessary miscommunication that might raise from the consumer which thought the brand has changed or the flavour itself has changed.

But with such to a great suprise that there is so many people that attended the event. He assured, that our community is almost more than ready to accept more revolutionary design of the bottle/can to come. He even added that it is not about a product or drink anymore, but it’s a brand that builds relationship and a hobby.

He mentioned that there will be collaboration channel with schools or colleges to organize periodically call for entries on creating a new packaging or design on the can/bottle. Because of the brand itself is such an established one in the world, there will always be charity event where part of the profits will go to charity organisation, he added. An interesting year for us to look ahead, especially for designers which this will allow a lot room of creativity exposure.

By looking at every different designs of the can or bottole, there is always a different story from how it came about, the history and everyone of it is unique by its own.

And it is also not a question of gender, age, religions or race to become a collector. And it varies from different person on what they collect, some did it for passion, some did it for appreciation of the design, festival launches or even some collects due to the beauty of the typography design.

The one and only limited edition from Malaysia. It’s is also to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the brand since it is established. What can be seen in the package is the infamous TV spot (Happiness Factory) from Psyop which stunned the world upon premierring on every household’s television. Which came in a very small quantity in our country. It’s value is high due to a long period of Coke collector’s edition absenst in our country. Mr. Kadri pointed out that production of such design is rare here is because there isn’t much exposure, or collectors to date that they known is too little to be producing it.

At most, all of the transactions at the event are done through 1 to 1 exchange of the same value instead of cash. This is because all of them believes that it’s not something that every one of the product can be measured with money.

More pictures from the event.

It’s an identity for a single colour to represent the brand itself, red.

The organizer, Chua, also a collector which started this event which he hope to share with experience with other.
