Following a thread from lowyat.net, which there is a discussion on the infamous YellowMan which has since appeared on all of the DiGi’s TVC.
It has reached to a certain extend that this campaign overexceeded my expectation and amazed the heck out of me. Started which more than a year ago, that now it has been on all of Malaysian’s word of mouth to talk about the yellow man that does not bear any name. Which initially, it did really catch an attention with the TVC bearing the famous song “I Will Follow You” that is later translated to both Chinese and Malay version of the TVC. Suprisingly the songs are then made a big hit and everyone requested if there is any channel they can have it towards their phone as a ringtone.

It seems that it is not about selling a product towards the consumer anymore of telecommunication, but an image, a brand or even a character which people will remember inside their heart dearly.
It has since then became even a bigger word of mouth between Malaysian when the Chinese New Year TV spot debutted early this year that relates to the idea of having a Wide Coverage in almost every part of the house. Hilarious as it seems, it does really catches the audience’s attention, creates a memory and to create a positive positioning for the brand.

The campaign itself went so massive that they even sent out the yellow man mascots to famous hypermarkets nationwide. What really amazed when I heard that on one of the small concert they’ve sponsored recently had their mascot running around the crowd below the stage!

The Yellow Man is conceived and executed by Naga DDB.
Datuk Vincent Lee wrote about it in Brand Insights, The Star, and Alvin, the Creative Director, was interviewed by the press on behind-the-scene of all these TVCs.
NOT McCann.
