Just got this interesting e-mail straight right fresh from the mailbox from Maylyn, thanks a lot. And this made me realize how creative implementation can help our lives become better. At times, we are not only saving costs, but also the environment in a long run. What’s more interesting is not the end outcome itself, but rather how the idea originates from. That applies to what material it used. Recycleable design? Reminds of Design Can Change. Yes, we can.

Sobok 2007
The Koreans has always been impressive with thier horror movies and innovation in using Flash for their promotional website. Spooky and strong in mood, you’ll find yourself eventually amazed with the details they put in creating the frightening effect subtly. Like the good use of blur in Flash 8. Thanks Jeffrey.

What’s inside your Coke bottle? It has been a form of expression using art. You can create posters or artwork on your own with this. Thanks tuckloong.
Breaking Tradition, Making Tradition
May 25th, 2007

- Packaging for a famous herbal drink. Literally means single-eyed man herbal tea. Note there is a tendency to promote the brand across the packaging subtly. (The outer ring)
This is a series of traditional product designs which is still available in Malaysia’s market. These products still in existence are traditional medication and they hail from the 70s and 80s. Back then, to build up their reputation with the limitations of its print technology of that era, they have used eye-catching color combinations and traditional patterns. Images of its founder/developer’s were used as a selling point to garner attention from its customers. It is one of the best ways to build up a relationship with its customers. To date these products still have a market in Malaysia and many Asian countries. Does the packaging of these products cash on customer loyalty? Without customers’ loyalty, how will these products survive in this market with its traditional packaging? Or is its survival subject to it being traditional.

Best visual illusion of the year
Seemingly unrelated to design, but it would help one or two to spark an inspiration in your design project. And by the way, both of the tower are the same picture. via neatorama

His tasellation origami works are absolutely fascinating. It’s more like a different dimension you can see in paper engineering, and some of it would look lovely to be used as a lamp. via neatorama

Direct and straigthforward. But I doubt if this would air in our country. What happens on public service commercial here that they will cover or censor the part that is suppose best if shown to the public.
