Color In Nature: Pheasants

May 22nd, 2008

An inspirational article that study colour palettes from Pheasants via Colour Lovers.
“There are approximately 49 species of pheasants. Their habitats range from mountainous regions in the Himalayas to the grasslands of North America and bamboo forests of China. The color palettes of pheasants range as drastically as their habitats. Many species possess colors you might only expect to see on birds in tropical regions with feathers of bright yellows and oranges that are complimented with deep rich maroons and blues…”

Kodomo no Kagaku Magazine: Science For Kids

May 17th, 2008

Founded in 1924, Kodomo no Kagaku (”Science for Kids”) is THE magazine for Japanese kids to recreate scientific looking stuff until today. And right now, Tokyo’s INAX Gallery 1 is holding the The Age of Crafts – Growing up with ‘Kodomo no Kagaku’ exhibition, which features recreations of projects featured in the magazine’s issues of the 1950s and 60s. How cute! Remember, these projects symbolise an age when electric washing machines and lunar landing vessels held a deep fascination throughout the nation. PingMag went to INAX for a trip into the past with kids’ wonderful science projects.

Siamese Fighting Fish Dresses at Rodarte (GALLERY)

Seemingly inspired by the complex beauty and graceful movements of exotic fish, Rodarte’s fall/winter 2008 runway show presented stunning ethereal and flowing dresses. Trendinista did a great job of pairing these layered dresses with the fish that seems to be the source of inspiration. A superb sensual runway by Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

STC – Afaq Shamel DSL commercials

May 9th, 2008

Conjugating violent tantrums with soothing folk ballads is Leo Burnett’s big idea for their client Afag Shamel DSL in promoting their open internet source service. Just another humorous exaggeration or plain dark humor; what say you?

Bomb USB

It may somehow look dangerous, and yes, this is indeed a USB data drive. USB data drive is one of the most dangerous “weapons” and a carrier of countless PC killer viruses. My pals get them too often, and hopefully this USB data drive Bomb keeps you reminded to scan it (at least) before plugging into your PC.

Real Mario

March 17th, 2008

We realized how wonderful is the creation of CG techniques and in fact, it is much more advanced and realistic. I still recalled of my childhood time for spending time on Mario adventure’s hand held game. I was just a kid then, but now I’m much older. Mario still remains evergreen.
