Tutorial : Make a folder icon

While it may seem overwhelming with a sudden outburst of Web2.0 trend for a while, noticebly that there are increasing numbers of designers that misunderstood the design for a glassy-look icon. Which most of the time, the icon wouldn’t look convincing enough. It’s not the subject that matters, in this case the folder, with learning the basic, you may able to produce other good looking ones as well in the future.

Future of Web Design
Are you going to the conference later this year? Should be wholesome experience in inspiring ownself to build a website which is far more future-proof, accesible and using best practices. Putting the event aside, the site itself is worthy to take a look at, the rounded corner tabs, reflective glassy button, and the organisation of the navigation. I’m not quite sure how, but it’s being crafted with heavy care ensuring the user will not miss out every details they want to know about the event and the “selling-point” of the site, which is the speakers right in front of the page. I’m even more surprised when I dropped by the site of the team which designed the site, Apple to Oranges, which almost a refreshing experience to go through a portfolio site, like reading a brochure itself, and forgotten I’m in a website. Good play of negative and positive spaces inside. On the other hand, I realized that the backend was designed by Carson Systems which started DropSend, an online file sharing space.

The Bon Festival, or more widely known as The Bon Odori Festival, are held in Malaysia annually on the 13th of July at both Shah Alam’s Matsushita Sports Centre and in Penang. But for this year itself, it was held on the 14th instead due to the weekend placement of the day itself. It is a great event to begin with especially for the first timer where you get to experience and participate in the folk dance. Originally, O-bon (お盆, O-bon?) or only Bon (盆, Bon?) is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors, however in Malaysia it is less associated with Buddhism. Some of us might even felt that it shared bit of similarity with the Hungry Ghost festival that is widely celebrated by Chinese from around the world.

Hit the jump and enjoy our coverage on the interesting annual cultural event. It was an eye opening experience for me as a first timer ever since it was held more than a decade ago!

What happens when there is integration between sci-fi technology in fashion design? We get a surreal and almost dreamlike setting on stage for the audience. Perhaps this could go down into my list for being one of the most stylish site for this year. It didn’t take quite a lot of hardcore actionscripting but what takes the merit is the continous effort in crafting out every inch of eye candy, from transitioning the character in and out of the page. Brilliant. And out of my suprise I’ve found out Andreas Wannerstedt

was responsible on the site as well, which he also had his portfolio site updated. He’s definitely one of my top list flash interactive designer that I’ve never seem to stop get inspired by him.
