Used on our desktops, toolbars, web-pages and other applications, computer icons draw from real world objects and have been known to take on the form of a file folder, paint brush, speaker etc., symbols we can easily identify and associate with. Individuals even use avatars (a form of icon) to represent themselves on instant messaging programs, virtual computer games and various internet forums. Computer icons have become an important part of our visual language, so much so that these digital computer icons are making their return into the real world. With immediate effect the participation for illustrators, graphic artist and designers in the “Young Illustrators Award” of the ILLUSTRATIVE is now possible!
The 20 winners will be shown at a separate section at the coming ILLUSTRATIVE, the international festival for contemporary graphic and illustrative art as well as integrated into the artist selection of the Illustrative. To one laureate being determined at this year´s ILLUSTRATIVE in Zurich, is given the possibility to creat one new “Limited Edition-watch” for Swatch – great opportunity to join the ranks of artists such as Kiki Picasso, Tadanori Yokoo and Keith Haring.
